Lanny Davis, the new attorney representing Michael Cohen as he faces a federal criminal investigation in NY, is coming out swinging against Cohen's former client President Donald Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

When asked by ABC News' Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos on "This Week" whether he had any concerns about what Cohen might tell prosecutors, Giuliani said they had "zero" concerns.

"Michael's not going to lie, he's going to tell the truth".

"It's our, it's our firm belief, and we think nothing contradicts this, that the president did nothing wrong", Giuliani said.

Giuliani said Trump won't give an interview unless Mueller's probe into Russian tampering in the 2016 presidential election uncovers something that directly implicates him. "I put family and country first".

Kim Wehle, a former assistant US attorney and former associate prosecutor for the independent counsel in the Whitewater investigation, warned on Monday that the U.S.is on the "fast track to tyranny" if President Donald Trump refuses to testify in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation. "And my sources are telling me that he said that the truth is not you or your client's friend".

Giuliani made the television rounds Sunday morning, appearing on three different programs, as speculation grew louder last week that Cohen was inching closer toward facing criminal charges and possibly working out a deal with prosecutors.

Cohen has scrubbed a reference of his long-time representation of Trump from professional credentials, saying recently, "My wife, my daughter and my son have my first loyalty and always will", not the president.

Whether Mr. Trump will testify is still an open question, Giuliani told Reid. "What I do know is, there's no evidence of wrongdoing with President Trump". "We can't find an incriminating anything", Giuliani replied.

Giuliani told ABC, "We've been through everything on collusion and obstruction". My quote is not evidence of a crime, it's a factual basis for the investigation. Cohen told the New York Times he paid adult actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 out of his personal account to keep her from revealing details of her alleged affair with the president.

Cohen's attorney, however, urged the president and his lawyers to buckle up. The New York Times noted Friday that Trump has tweeted about a "witch hunt" 59 times since March alone, compared to 20 times in all of 2017. The AP obtained a copy of the other document, in addition to a two-page memo from September in which Trump lawyers lament to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein that Mueller was "inexplicably" not investigating Comey's "misconduct" they had earlier raised.
