After an endless amount of hemming and hawing, Indiana Jones 5 is officially confirmed by Disney. The next chapter in the franchise is now set to arrive in theaters on July 9, 2021.

Back when Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull came out everyone landed in one of two camps: it sucked so much you never wanted another Indy movie, or it sucked so much you desperately wanted another one so they could time wipe it away from existence somehow. The film was originally scheduled for release in the summer of 2019.

A few weeks back, we learned that Steven Spielberg's long-gestating and as-yet-untitled Indiana Jones 5 was getting pushed back from its original release date (July 10th, 2020) to some undetermined point in the future, perhaps as much as a year. The delay comes as a result of script issues, which is why Solo: A Star Wars Story scribe Jon Kasdan was recently brought on board to work on the project. Harrison Ford will return as Indiana Jones, and Steven Spielberg will direct, with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall producing.

HBO must 'change direction' to flourish, says its new boss
Plepler said that HBO's current strategy "is not going to be sustainable going forward". Plepler responded, to scattered applause. "Yes, you do", Stankey reportedly said.

The film will reunite Ford with director Stephen Spielberg in the "Indiana Jones" franchise created by filmmaker George Lucas, that has grossed almost $2 billion at the world box office with four films and amassed a global fan base. That's because Spielberg is in pre-production on a reboot of West Side Story and even looking at directing The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara with Oscar victor Mark Rylance.

Before that, Mary Poppins Returns is shifting a week earlier in December this year, and the Wreck-It Ralph sequel is staying in place, but undergoing a minor name tweak to simply Ralph Breaks The Internet.
