FROM hooliganism to racism, homophobia to doping scandals, there is a lot that could go wrong at a Russian World Cup.

Egypt is expected to provide strong competition to both Uruguay and Russia and Many believe that they have a very good chance of making it through to the next round.

Russia are a really poor team. His pairing with Suarez will be a nightmare for any defence that has to face them. Last year's Africa Cup of Nations finalists will certainly not be easy opponents and are likely to be locked in a battle with Russia to progress alongside Uruguay. Let us know in the comments section.

The national team of Uruguay for the third time in a row qualified for the world Cup.

Former Manchester United full-back Guillermo Varela, now of Penarol, has also been included, as has Girona forward Cristhian Stuani. If nothing else, he should be kept busy. Suárez is currently the team's record goalscorer with an impressive 50 goals in 97 appearances, and Cavani isn't far behind with 42 goals in 100 appearances.

But in 20-year-old Juventus midfielder, Rodrigo Bentancur, they may have just found the answer to their problems. Particularly when those opponents include the much more talented Uruguay.

The goalkeeper for the Uruguay national team, Fernando Muslera, said on Friday that his country is seeking to reach at least the final of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, although his teammate Nahitan Nandez said the team is going "to become champions".

That trio remains the mainstay of Uruguay's threat, but veteran coach Oscar Washington Tabarez has also introduced some exciting young talents in midfield.

The one worry is Uruguay's patchy form since their qualification was confirmed. Despite their relative lack of recent success in the competition, this summer in Russia may be their chance to make a serious statement on the world stage and make a deep run in tournament.

They haven't won a World Cup game since 1994, with their low point coming in 2002 when they were thrashed 8-0 by Germany. The results though are yet to come as Russia struggled in the FIFA Confederations Cup and were beaten convincingly at home by France and Brazil in March.

The omissions of Lodeiro and Ramirez, who have 53 and 43 caps respectively, came as something of a surprise, with Tabarez opting to give his engine room something of a shake-up.

The team is managed by Stanislav Cherchesov who took over the realms after a disastrous Euro 2016 campaign where they finished last.
