They don't deny that Comey is sanctimonious and plainly sees himself as the Last Man of Integrity. "Just another of his many lies", Trump responded on Twitter Sunday. "I think he's morally unfit to be president", Comey declared.

Comey also discussed the briefing of Trump's alleged pee tape, describing the meeting with the president over the matter as "really weird" and like an "out of body experience". "The president just kicked out the attorney general to ask me to drop a criminal investigation.' Wow, the world continues to go insane". Those three states gave Trump his Electoral College win.

"[Trump's] face appeared slightly orange, with bright white half-moons under his eyes where I assumed he placed small tanning goggles, and impressively coiffed, bright blond hair, which upon close inspection looked to be all his." he writes.

"I remember wondering how long it must take him in the morning to get that done".

Up until now, Comey has been a devastating witness against Trump because, unlike the president, he is so obviously upright and so careful in what he has said. The president then called him in front of the cameras in an awkward kiss-the-ring type of display.

Mueller has so far charged 19 people during his investigation, including Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort and campaign aides Rick Gates and George Papadopoulos.

And last week federal agents in NY raided the office and hotel room of Trump's longtime personal lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen, possibly in connection with secret hush payments he made to women claiming they had affairs with Trump. And he's not mincing words.

With Comey's much-publicized book - "A Higher Loyalty" - published today, Trump's anti-Comey rants aren't likely to be ending anytime soon.

Mr. Comey also had more fans 10 months ago when he testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee in June, a broadcast event which nabbed 19.5 million viewers, according to Joe Concha, media analyst for The Hill.

Mr Trump fired off a series of furious tweets early ahead of an interview Mr Comey conducted with U.S. television network the ABC that was set to air in full on Sunday evening local time. But the book and his interview reveal some telling details.

Comey declined to answer when asked whether he believed Trump should be impeached, calling it a "question of law and fact and politics". Everybody's got opinions. I may agree with Comey that Trump is morally unfit to be president, but that doesn't mean it's particularly important that he thinks so. I wondered if maybe others had noticed it or if in thousands of hours of video coverage, he had even laughed. he had spent literally decades in front of video cameras, between his highly choreographed career as a business mogul and his years as a reality television star.

"No way", Comey quotes the president as saying.

"I think that in the case of Comey, in particular, he did not want Trump to be president, and so, there may have been some bias".

He later added: "Slippery James Comey, a man who always ends up badly and out of whack (he is not smart!), will go down as the WORST FBI Director in history, by far!" Framing his choice as between "speak" and "conceal", he argued that if it only came out after the election that the FBI had reopened its investigation into Clinton's emails, that would "destroy the institutions that I love". Instead, they launched into a strategy session about how to "spin what we'd just told them" for the public, he writes.

After confirming the Federal Bureau of Investigation found no manipulation of vote count, Comey said he was surprised when the briefing turned to a "PR conversation".
