The Memphis Grizzlies caused heads to turn around the league earlier this season when the team chose to fire head coach David Fizdale. During his first year at the helm, the Grizzlies went 43-39 and qualified for the playoffs. In 2008, Fizdale joined the Miami Heat and was promoted to associate coach that same year when Erik Spoelstra assumed the head coaching job upon Pat Riley's retirement from the bench. That made it a surprise when 19 games into this season, he was sacked after a 7-12 start. Jay Triano, who succeeded Watson as the team's interim head coach, is also expected to interview for the position.

With that in mind, at least two of the coaches they will be in touch with are former Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford and former Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale, per Gambadoro.
