Wahab Riaz hopeful of return to team

Pakistan have named five uncapped players, including the nephew of former captain and current chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, in their Test squad for the team's upcoming tour of Ireland and England on Sunday. His medium pace will be a useful addition in seamer-friendly conditions.

Saad scored 935 runs at an impressive average of 68.35 in a season that was dominated by bowlers.

Led by Sarfraz Ahmed, the squad includes Azhar Ali, Sami Aslam, Fakhar Zaman, Imamul Haq and newcomer Saad Ali in the top order while Harris Sohail, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam and Usman Salahuddin were included as middle-order batsmen.

Pakistan will miss Yasir Shah - out owing to a hip injury - dearly in the series as the young Shadab Khan will be the lone specialist spinner accompanying the team.

"Yasir's absence is a big loss", Inzamam was quoted as saying by a leading cricket website. "If we look at his numbers for the last two years, he has more wickets than any other bowler for Pakistan".

Haris Sohail, who retains his place after he made his debut in the home series loss against Sri Lanka past year, may also find himself in a crucial all-round role with his part-time spin.

All-rounder Haris Sohail is the other spin option for Pakistan, who could bowl left-arm spin. "I hope he recovers quickly from his injury because we have some big home Test series coming up after this series too, and we will need him in the UAE". The match on 11 May in Dublin will be Ireland's first ever.

The tourists then move on to Lord's for the series opener against England before rounding out the Test leg of their trip at Headingley.
