That "done deal" might not be as sure as everyone thought, as the Giants will apparently have some serious competition for Norwell's services.

A league source told The Record and NorthJersey.com that Norwell has narrowed his choices to three finalists: the Giants, the 49ers and the Indianapolis Colts.

Both the 49ers and Colts have one advantage over the Giants now, which is money.

It aims to reduce trade tariffs between member countries that together amount to over 13% of the global economy; a total of US$10 trillion in gross domestic product.

The Giants had their sights set on Norwell to anchor an offensive line rebuild, but not must turn their attention elsewhere. Both the 49ers ($64 million) and Colts ($72 million) have a ton of cap space and can easily afford Norwell.

Meanwhile, Justin Pugh remains an option, although he is likely eager to test the free agent market but the Giants losing out on Norwell could cause Gettleman to rethink things.

"Norwell represents Gettleman's greatest hit as GM in Carolina, as he has ascended from undrafted free agent out of Ohio State to All-Pro status in a contract year in 2017", wrote Stapleton on Monday morning.
