Miocic vs. Ngannou is the second title fight to be added to UFC 220, which takes place at Boston's TD Garden, as a light-heavyweight title clash between Daniel Cormier (c) and Swiss clock-cleaner Volkan Oezdemir had already been announced. UFC 220 now features one other title fight, a light heavyweight championship showdown between Daniel Cormier and fast-rising contender Volkan Oezdemir.

The pay-per-view event will mark only the fourth time in UFC history that the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles will be defended on the same card.

Miocic has not fought since that May encounter, unable to come to an agreement on a contract renegotiation with the UFC.

It's unclear which of the two title fights would serve as the UFC 220 main event.
