Texas A&M reportedly planning to pursue Jimbo Fisher

Texas A&M still has a head coach in place with embattled sixth-year coach Kevin Sumlin, but USA Today reported Tuesday that the school is preparing to inquire about Fisher's interest for when Sumlin is fired at the end of this season. But at 6-4 and with losses in three of its last four Southeastern Conference matchups - all three coming at home - the thinking is that Sumlin's tenure is over even if the Aggies win their remaining two games against MS and LSU.

Fisher and Texas A&M Athletic Director Scott Woodward are "friendly", Wolken reports, dating back to 2000, when Fisher was hired as Nick Saban's offensive coordinator at LSU and Woodward was hired as an athletic department administrator. But would that be enough to lure Fisher away from Florida State, where he won a national title after the 2013 regular season and is one of the nation's highest-paid, most-secure coaches at around $5.5 million annually? Along with the fact that the Seminoles are only 3-6 this season, USA Today sources indicate it might not be that hard to convince Fisher to coach at A&M.

Curtis Samuel to miss rest of season
Now, with Samuel out for the season, the Panthers have to turn to others to inject that much-needed speed. Just when Curtis Samuel's rookie season was starting to take off, it's been cut short.

Corey Clark of the Tallahassee Democrat seems somewhat dubious about the prospect of Fisher leaving for College Station.

Texas A&M is expected to gauge Fisher's interest once the school parts ways with current coach Kevin Sumlin at the end of the season, citing two people familiar with the situation, according to the report. Fisher has said in the past that remaining close to his family is important.

Of course, Fisher would be leaving a lot on the table if he chose to move on from Florida State.
