The recall however is expected to impact only 1 per cent

Jeep Compass, the first locally made product from the Fiat Chrysler stable and a hugely popular SUV in India, has hit its first speedbreaker.

Fiat Chrysler Automotive India will recall about 1,200 Jeep Compass sports utility vehicles that have been retailed to customers already for replacement of the front passenger air bag.

In an official release, the company mentioned, "A supplier has advised FCA that, during its airbag module assembly process, loose fasteners may have inadvertently found their way undetected into a small number of modules".

Buffalo Sabres unveil Winter Classic jerseys and they're fantastic
The royal blue harkens back to their original color scheme from the 1970s and the jersey also features three secondary logos. The Sabres primaries use navy over the more classic blue, and that's a mistake.

The recall is part of a wider recall announced by Fiat Chrysler in the United States totalling more than 8,000 cars.

The company explains that in case the affected vehicle goes through an impact and the passenger airbags deploy, the loose fasteners in the airbag will prove to be hazardous. FCA claims that the affected Jeep Compass SUVs is expected to be less than one percent (1%) of the total recall population. However, FCA has advised the Jeep Compass owners, whose vehicles were manufactured in the above period, to refrain from using the front passenger seat until the airbag of the same is replaced by the company.

The popularity of this SUV can be gauged by the fact that over 10,000 units were sold within two months of its launch this July. The company has also started exports to Australia and Japan, shipping out 600 right-hand drive units from the Mumbai Port last month.
